About me
Jun Lei is a Chinese international student who is studying general theater art at the university of regina. He is interested in digging some history and exploring modern social phenomenon. He believes theater is like a mirror that can reflect the past and the present, making the audience reflect deeply.
Jun's training includes text analysis, vocal and movement practice, theater history and performance rehearsal. Jun’s performance experience includes his role “Kevin Mathew Wong” in “All Good Things Must Begin”, directed by Jennifer Brewin.
This multi-scene production gives him a great opportunity to self-identity, ancestry, cultural reservation and environmental protection.
Before theater training at the university of regina, Jun took dance courses for two years back in Winnipeg, trained in different styles including hip-hop, ballet, contemporary dance from Royal Winnipeg ballet academy and school of contemporary dancers.
Apart from dance training, Jun took participation in local cultural events that were hosted by Chinatown community and volunteered for festivals.
then after Jun came to regina for theater study, he joined a group of Confucius institution which associated by university of Regina in spare time, volunteered for traditional Chinese dragon dance performance with other members in both Regina Performing Arts Center and Regina cultural pavilion.
Jun has experience in martial arts for years, trained in different styles since high school, including karate and taekwondo. All these experiences support him as a theater performer who is dedicated to building a more diversified and inclusive theater circle.
